The hospital profiling tools provided by Health Forums Data Unit are derived
from the AHA Annual Survey of Hospitals. American Hospital Association, through
its Health Forum subsidiary, is responsible for all aspects of this survey,
which has been conducted since 1946. The Survey is often used by health
services researchers and commercial entities as a foundation for hospital
profiles and characteristics.

The latest version (Fiscal Year 2007) of the AHA Annual Survey of Hospitals is the primary source for criteria selection used for hospital lists.
